Letter to Jeremy Corbyn, MP [10.05.2002]
May 10th, 2002
Right Honorable Jeremy Corbyn MP
House of Commons
London SW1A 0AA
Dear Mr Corbyn,
Re: The Current Crisis in the Middle-East
Thank you for your letters of 19 April and 9 May 2002 respectively regarding the above.
I listened with keen interest to your question in the PQ on 8 May in which you raised several issues including an arm embargo on Israel. In fact, it is by coincidence your letter came just when I was about to reply to you.
When I sent you my petition, I knew you would give it prompt attention on the knowledge that you are one of the very rare classical politicians there have been in this generation.
As you rightly pointed out that the “question received an inappropriate answer” was also acknowledged even by media commentators on Five Live Radio.
You may remember after the 1997 General Election when I briefly met you at the Archway Post Office then you promised to stand up for what is right, to this day you have kept to your promise and thus keep the faith.
The last time I met you was when we escorted you to the car at the Michael Sobell Sport Centre following the last year’s General Election in which, I stood for the bye-election – Junction Ward.
Unfortunately, in recent local government election, I decided not to stand!
As one of the governors, I noticed the immense support you are giving to my son’s school - Hargrave Park School.
As regards to demonstration on 18 May, I shall pass the details to friends, even though I personally could not make it due to family commitment, but I hope to do so when circumstances permit in the near future.
Finally, I must express my full confidence and support in your commendable efforts and look forward more in the future.
Yours truly,
A S AJIYA
Abubakar Sadiq Ajiya
