A Rare Visit
A RARE VISIT TO THE EYE CENTRE
It was sometime in autumn, 2006 Since I visited the centre upon promise made to Lady Ray Kodilinye, widower of Chief Kodilinye, The Founder of Kaduna Eye Centre

I hold my breath
Trying not to cry
As I look around in the darkness of the night,
The moon and the stars
Parading high above the sky,
With recollection going through your thoughts
Wishing that I knew you long before
Let a centre be built: Those were his very own words
The emphasis and the focus were largely to build an Eye Centre, where it would serve those that matter
A sight is born and
A centre is born
A sight is real
A sight is in the centre
For all North South & West
A sight is where all should visit
A sight is for the future
A sight is for all to heal
A sight is here to stay
Long after Kodilinye is gone
Yet it shall remain for all time
Forgotten we are not
For the selfless service you gave to the fatherland
The day you left this mortal world to meet with your Lord
Even when I visit your grave
The day I can never forget
In life as in death
Your Lady still stands by you
Recalling in her very words
What a true Nigerian you were and
What service you have given to the fatherland and
How little was mention of you
Even in her mid 90’s
A challenge she must take by putting words in to ink
Perhaps future generations may learn
Always my eyes filled with tears,
Even though I tried to disguise
I truly come to term
Death is merely a transition, but
That which we saw is what we shall reap
